KWIK Cricket Section  

Here at Leigh CC, we run junior Kwik Cricket sessions for 5-11 year olds on Leigh village green every Sunday morning in the summer. Girls and boys, any ability. Kwik Cricket serves as a safe and fun introduction to playing the game in a semi-organised way; it also acts as a stepping stone up to more serious junior 'hard ball' cricket for when the children reach the age of 10-12.

Every Sunday morning through the summer (weather permitting) we play a combination of games mixed with basic skill tuition (covering warming up, fielding, batting and bowling) on Leigh village green.  We will also play the occasional competitive game against other village sides which gets the children used to playing real games of cricket.

Then each year, towards the end of the summer, we make awards for skills learned and tested in accordance the official Kwik Cricket gold, silver and bronze grading structure. In addition, from 2003 we have devised our own DIAMOND and PLATINUM awards for the children who have completed gold before graduating to hard ball cricket.  [2006 award ceremony]
